My name is Danielle D'Adamo. I've been fortunate to have the opportunity to combine the two things I am really passionate about...wrestling and photography...and I'm having a great time!
I started watching wrestling back when I was 6 years old and started going to live events when I was 11 years old. My first event was NWA (before becoming WCW) in the Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, NJ. Seeing Ric Flair, Sid Vicious, and Sting all in one building made my heart beat faster than running a NYC marathon.
I started taking photos with a Sony Mavica digital camera, then went back to using a regular 35mm Nikon camera. But now I'm back to taking digital photos with my latest toy: a Sony Mavica FD-85C Digital Camera with a 6X zoom lens. Using floppy disks for storage, I can fit 33 pictures on each one...and I take a lot of floppies with me to every show I attend.
I learned a lot about sports photography when I became a sports columnist for my college newspaper, the Pauw Wow. Eventually, I sent my photos to the promoter of Jersey All Pro Wrestling and he liked my work so much, he asked me to become a ringside photographer. JAPW is one of the biggest and longest-running New Jersey independent promotions, and I am proud to be a part of it. On any given weekend, you might see me in either Bayonne, Hackettstown, or any part of the East Coast for that matter.
My work is now mostly displayed on wrestling websites. I have been published on The Sandman's website, wwfny.com, and many others. You can find a list of sites featuring my work at my website--www.geocities.com/rahvin68.
At many events, you'll find me running around the building trying to get all of the shots I can. When a match spills onto the floor, into the crowd or out into the parking lot...I'm there. And people wonder how I got the nickname "The Suicidal Photographer". ; )
Hope to see you at the shows!
