PGWA Spring Stampede

Looks like some new DVDs and downloads from PGWA's latest event have been made available from our friends at LadySports.com. Shiai Mata checks in today with a description of some of the action from the show...

On April the 16th, the Professional Girl Wrestling Association and Women's Xtreme Championship Wrestling teamed up to present "Spring Stampede", an evening of all-ladies wrestling in Nashville, Tennessee. Twelve women battled in the ring that night in a show that culminated in a match that put not one, but two championship belts on the line!

The evening hit the ground running right from the opening bell in a match dubbed "The Battle of the Southern States", as Christie Mississippi Queen Ricci faced the challenge of Nikki Georgia Belle Diamond. Teenaged Nikki, although still a newcomer to the sport, had been enjoying a tremendous winning streak, and she looked to extend it by claiming what would have been her greatest victory yet. However, while the youngster put the veteran through the proverbial wringer, Christie's experience carried her through to triumph.

Next, the Extreme Queen met the Queen of Kingsport for the first time, as Mickie Knuckles sought to dethrone Misty James. It was a lightning-fast battle which saw brawler Mickie display some of her rarely-seen technical moves, while Misty, a great ring technician, showed off her roughhouse side. This was a melee that went down to the very wire, with Misty only narrowly taking the win.

Jessie Belle Smothers mixed it up with Sin-D...and with the fans! Jessie Belle made no secret of how she detested "Trashville" and the fans there, which resulted in her not only being lustily booed, but also the curious result of Sin-D...normally a hated heel...being cheered by the spectators! That actually seemed to confuse the brunette at first, but she soon began to enjoy having the vocal support of the crowd, and it seemed to give her the energy boost she needed to come with a hair's breadth of winning. However, all of the cheers in the world won't do you much good when Jessie Belle's tag partner, Mickie Knuckles, decides to interfere in the fight!

Punk goddess Amanda Ruffen came to town expecting an easy win over a newcomer...but she wasn't expecting what Abriella of Amazonia brought to the ring! The mysterious, statuesque beauty had the strength and the skill to batter poor Amanda from pillar to post. And although Ruffen got her licks in, ultimately the rookie scored the upset victory.

Hardcore Heather Owens said she would only come to Nashville if we could promise her the toughest opponent available. That could mean only one woman...Miss Rachel! The blonde brawler and the British beauty engaged in a wild donnybrook that the ring couldn't contain. More than a few times, the Nashville fans were utterly stunned at what they were witnessing, for never before had they ever seen their beloved Rachel reduced to such helplessness, as Owens threw everything she had at the brunette. However, time and again Rachel would roar back from the brink of seeming defeat, and after a bruising and exhaustive battle, it was the Brit whose arm the referee raised!

The final match of the night featured Tracy Taylor versus Nemesis for both the PGWA and WXCW titles...more on which tomorrow!
