THE Uncensored Rumble!
Ed Darcey checks in for the grand finale of Saturday night's WSU event (as well as the grand finale of his week-long photos and reporting here on the G.L.O.R.Y. POD)...the big Uncensored Rumble IV bout involving the top WSU stars and G.L.O.R.Y. Girls. A great wrap-up to a fantasic week of action courtesy of Ed and his camera!
The final match of the evening, the Uncensored Rumble, was a surprise from beginning to end. The first surprise was that the initial two combatants were the WSU Tag Team Champions, the Boston Shore, who had earlier in the evening successfully fended off the challenge of the previous title holders, Tina San Antonio and Marti Belle, whose relationship has shown signs of discord recently. While no one expected Alexxus and Amber to turn on one another, with the promise of a shot at the WSU Title on the line you could never be too sure of who your true friends are.
True to expectations however, the Beantown duo were able to fend off numerous attempts to eliminate one or both of them by an incredible array of talent...including such major names as Rain, Nikki Roxx, Serena and Amy Lee, as well as another surprise, the returning Annie Social. As opposed to so many men's rumbles, there were not a lot of early eliminations. However, as with any Rumble there were ephemeral alliances formed, and the contest was used to settle scores, both old a new. None newer than when Alicia went after Jessicka Havock. And while Jessicka's hench woman, Allison Kay, was there to deflect some of the vitriol that Havock has recently invited, in the end the fact that these three concentrated on one another led to all of their demise.
Another real surprise was that by the end of the match both members of the Boston Shore were still in the ring. However by this time they were facing some ferocious competition in the likes of Serena and Nikki Roxx. Unbeleivable as it may sound, Roxx and Deeb teamed up to eliminate Amber. That left Alexxus by herself to try to stave off elimination. When the two TV veterans turned around, they were met by a Missile dropkick, which stunned them both. The Backbay hellion tossed Nikki from the ring, and when Serena rushed Alexxus, she ducked the spear and Serena went headlong through the ropes to the floor. Alexxus was the winner of the Royal Rumble and earned an automatic shot at Mercede's championship. This may have been the biggest surprise of the night. While no one doubts the capabilities of Alexxus, what are the odds that the first entrant and probably the most diminutive grappler in the Rumble would emerge victorious? It just goes to show that with will, determination and some fortuitous circumstances, anything is possible in WSU. While dethroning Mercedes would seem to be a daunting task, it seems that anything is possible in WSU!
