Rain/Martinez Battle

Guess who was at last Saturday night's WSU iPPV event? Ed Darcey, of course! And he had his camera in hand. Ed brings us some of the action from the Rain/Martinez battle, along with a description of the action...

WSU's first foray into iPPV (which is still available online) Saturday night was a rousing success with many terrific matches. One of the best was the last match of the second DVD taping between G.L.O.R.Y. Girl Rain and the finest independent woman wrestler around today, as recognized by PWI, Mercedes Martinez. It was so good that a chant of "THIS IS AWESOME!", led by a couple of indy male wrestlers in attendance, was heard for a large part of the match.

Rain had demanded that the match be an "I Quit" match...and so it was! As is their history together, a large part of the match took place outside the ring as Martinez and Rain took turns abusing various body parts of their opponent. Rain seemed particularly intent on ruining Mercedes legs, using the ringpost as well as the ropes as an ally. In the end, Mercedes hooked Rain upside down in the corner and poured the pressure on her neck and shoulder, forcing the G.L.O.R.Y. gal to submit.

The combatants, with a healthy regard for their past battles, even shook hands after this titanic struggle. One hopes that they meet again as their matches for WSU have been epic.
