Battle Of Long-Time G.L.O.R.Y. Girls!

Ed Darcey is back once again for a WSU 3rd Anniversary Show recap. This time, Ed fills us in on a match involving two of our earliest G.L.O.R.Y. Girls...

While the final two contests from WSU's 3rd Anniversary Show (pictured in the previous two days of PODs) involved the quest for the WSU Championship, the contest that immediately preceded those was just as intriguing, for different reasons, as the Amber/Jazz and Rain/Mercedes match-ups were. It involved two veteran indy wrestlers who had paved the way for many of the women who wrestle today in the Northeast: April Hunter--making her return to the area she once called home--and Traci Brooks--recently released by TNA (one shudders as to the thinking behind that corporate decision) and coming back to the environs she has only worked sporadically since signing with TNA.

One obvious reason for the match-up being of more than passing interest is the history the two women have between them. At any given time in the past they have been bitter rivals, wary friends, stalwart teammates and anything else in between...all depending on the circumstances they were in at the time. But, knowing both women, the one thing they have always had was an abiding respect for each other and the wrestling business, and a genuine regard for one another's talent. While April's back is still on the mend and Traci's less-rigorous recent schedule (quite understandable considering her recent nuptials) might lead one to assume they might just go through the motions in their match, NOT TRUE! Though it was not as hard hitting as the later two bouts, it was just as competitive (no surprise there considering the women involved) and immensely entertaining.

In the end, Big Red won...but the real winners were the fans who got to watch two women, still in their prime, entertain us without resorting to theatrics. The sheer force of their personalities and their love of entertaining was more than enough to enthrall the crowd. And with the added bonus of having two upstart New Englanders bad-mouth and belittle Hunter and then Brooks ally herself with Red and volunteer to put the "Boston Shore" in their place, it means we have not seen the last of the newly formed and more formidable TNA: Traci 'n April! One thinks that Amber and Alexxus may well have bitten off WAAAAY more than they will be able to digest!
