Nikki Roxx (Roxxi) Vs. Kara Slice (Cherry)
Seems that G.L.O.R.Y. fan Ed Darcey has really been getting around to the arenas lately! Over the past few days, we've seen a couple of POD's from his latest trek to WSU. Now Ed checks in with his account and pictures of Saturday night's Nikki Roxx (a.k.a. Roxxi) battle with Kara Slice (a.k.a Cherry)...
For the second time in a month, former WWE Diva Cherry was set to battle a current TNA Knockout in Freehold, New Jersey. Her previous encounter, in which she collected a big win, was against Velvet Skye in a mixed tag in New York. How would she fare against the taller and stronger Roxxi?
Right from the beginning, you knew this match would be different as the crowd was equally divided in their rooting interest. It is rare to be treated to a match...particularly a women's match...where there is no clear cut villain to cheer against. And the two women seemed to have genuine respect for one another BEFORE the bout even began.
Roxxi started out strong, tossing Cherry around with numerous arm drags. Cherry retaliated, sending Roxxi into the corner and monkey flipping her to the mat. The match seesawed back and forth with each gal getting near falls until Cherry caught Roxxi with a boot to the stomach and DDT'd her to the mat. The stunned TNA star was then rolled up for the three count.
Then, as one might have expected from their earlier demeanor, the two women displayed both their respect for one another (as well as their class) by hugging and congratulating each other. They seemed to really like each another. Dare we hope they might team up in the future? That would be something to see, would it not?!
