I Guess You Can Call It Dancing...

Back to WSU's First Anniversary show held in Lake Hiawatha, New Jersey last month...this time, for a fun match that involved G.L.O.R.Y. Girls Roxie Cotton, Jana and Luscious Latasha. Actually, the action started before the opening bell when Roxie decided to dance to the entrance music of The Soul Sisters. Luckily, Roxie's wrestling is better than her dancing.

What's the best way to describe Cotton's dance style? Hmmm...

Oh...I've got it! If you're a fan of Seinfeld you probably remember the episode where Elaine tries to dance to an Earth, Wind and Fire song. Remember? Upon seeing the display, George described it as looking like "a full-body dry heave". Well, let's just say that based on Roxie's in-ring dance performance, Elaine would have beaten her handily in a dance-off!

Some REAL Dancing!

When Jana and Latasha finally did make it out to the ring, the unplanned dance contest was OVER within seconds...and the The Soul Sisters won hands down. Needless to say, Roxie wasn't very happy being shown-up in front of all the fans in attendance. And, after all, this wasn't The Copacabana...this was a professional wrestling ring!

Bye, Bye Miss American Pie

Once the bell sounded, Roxie made up for her dancing deficiencies by taking her anger out on poor Jana. That happy smile that Cotton sported when she was dancing quickly disappeared as she drove her knee deep into Jana's midsection after an arm whip off the ropes. The blow sent Jana flipping through the air and crashing down to the mat hard.

Guess you can say that for Jana, this was her "day the music died".

Latasha To The Rescue

It was Jana's good fortune to have Luscious Latasha at her side during this six-person tag match. After taking a beating at the hands of Roxie and Annie Social, Jana was able to catch a break and make it back to her corner for a tag to her partner. Latasha came in like a house afire, decking Social and then looking for the next person to clobber. Latasha may be small, but that little body was flying around the ring and doing all kinds of damage to the opposition!

On a side note: I had the pleasure of being in the audience at this event and it was my first time seeing Latasha in action. There was a family in the stands just off to my right side...a father and mother with their young son (I'm assuming)...and apparently it was their first time seeing The Soul Sisters live. As entertaining as the match was, it was almost as much fun watching them watch the match! These three were smiling, laughing and shouting from the moment the dancing started until the girls headed back to the locker room. Seeing fans having that kind of fun is really what it's all about, right?
